Operational Efficiency of Indian Railways during and post COVID-19- Use of New Age Technologies

The current crisis has impacted Indian Railways significantly, which has been under partial lockdown since the end of March 2020. When Indian Railways is impacted, lives and livelihoods are impacted.

There will be a need for increased intelligence in the distribution of goods and the planning of freight, as the impending recession may create a complicated and variable need for essential and non-essential services and goods across the country. There will be a need for increased intelligence in passenger services, as these services negatively impact social distancing but are critical for most citizens in the country.

Sapio Umbrella, an entity belonging to government advisory firm Sapio Analytica Pvt. Ltd., puts forward this concept paper, which talks about the main challenges in the Indian Railways and provides recommendations on how to fight these challenges, using data and A.I.. We’ve been involved with various state governments at this stage and actively engaging with our recommendations and solutions to combat the COVID-19 outbreak, on a pro bono basis.

    Good observations and suggestions sir…but as per your consideration 45 heads per coach in India is not possible as per population… people’s are fighting to get the seat and indirectly it will affect railway reservation system and amount of workload for railway employee.
    Actually I want to know sir…what performance evaluation parameters you want for solving above problem from railway department.
